On Monday, October 5th, Just Food will host the eighth annual Let Us Eat Local tasting benefit at the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea. New York City’s best chefs who have pioneered and continue to lead the farm-to-table movement will offer innovative, seasonal fare showcasing the bounty of our regional and urban farms. Tastings from New York’s sustainable wineries and breweries, signature cocktails by local distilleries, and a VIP oyster and cocktail hour will round out this memorable culinary experience.
Just Food is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that works with community leaders to make healthy, local food available, especially in underserved New York City neighborhoods. All proceeds from Let Us Eat Local support Just Food’s efforts to train and support community leaders to launch projects like farmers’ markets and CSAs, educate their neighbors in basic culinary and urban agriculture skills, and advocate to make their corner of New York City a healthier place to live and eat. In 2014 alone, Just Food helped nearly a quarter million New Yorkers to access fresh, sustainable food in their own neighborhood.
